"We used to play cowboys and indians. I always wondered why I had to be the cowboy...(my brother) told me, 'you can't play the Indian! You don't know how to fall off a horse!'"

Pearl Casias served as a tribal judge for the Southern Ute tribal court system. She was the first female chair of the Southern Ute Tribe. She lives in Ignacio, Colorado.
